Putting Arms Of Love Around Our Community and the World

8th Annual Ladies Retreat

This year's meeting was held October 2nd - 4th at Sleep Inn in Huntersville.  We had 48 ladies in attendance and our speaker was Annette Baines from Delaware.  Thursday night we had a PJ party with lots of entertainment and games, as you can see from the pictures.  We had a time of relaxing and loads of laughter!

The actual retreat began on Friday evening at 6:00pm.  We enjoyed special music and choruses, door prizes, and spirit filled sessions with Annette.  Her topic was "The Masquerade": Will the Real You Please Step Forward?   We learned about what causes us to wear the mask, what is the effect of wearing the mask, can we experience freedom from wearing the mask, and is our mask causing us to be seperated from God, other people or even from our true self.

Saturday morning we closed the retreat with a time of sharing - that always seems to be such a "special" time that the Lord really blesses us with.

It was a wonderful weekend with Annette speaking to all of the ladies during the Sunday School hour on Sunday morning.

First Church Ministers to Women.

Heart to Heart describes the women's ministry here at First Church. Every heart having a heart for God, and every heart having a heart for others is the goal of the women's ministry at First Church.

What we hope to achieve through this ministry:

  • To help women grow in Christ,
  • To discover and develop our Spiritual Gifts together,
  • To train women to become godly wives and mothers,
  • To develop strong leaders in the community and the workplace,
  • To deepen our concern for the lost of our society and the world,
  • To align women for ministry at First Church!

Areas of ministry offered:

WAC- "Women Active for Christ" - This exciting ministry offers you the opportunity to learn about missions, be involved in and support missions through various projects throughout the year. WAC meets the third Wednesday of every month in the choir room.

Sunday School- Our ministry offers numerous age appropriate Sunday School classes for women. each week we have wonderful lessons that always have a practical emphasis to help us grow spiritually. These groups provide an intimate setting for our friendship development and offers support and encouragement. Additionally, each class is engaged in various ministry projects throughout the year such as care for shut ins, the sick, senior citizens, baby and bridal showers, meals, The Potter's House, Crisis Pregnancy Center, and many more!

Sunday School Socials- On a regular basis, classes will plan social events outside of Sunday School. If you aren't involved in a Sunday School class, we encourage you to find a class for you and plug yourself into the action. Please let us know if we can help you find the class that is right for you.

The Potter's House- This ministry was established to enable women to overcome traumatic life experiences and addictions through the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The women of First Church have been very involved with the women of this ministry in such a way that The Potter's House has made First Church their home church, when they aren't away for special programs at other churches. This unique relationship has enabled First Church to minister personally to these women and has provided many ministry opportunities for Sunday School classes and individuals.
